Hometown: Norfolk, Virginia
College: Georgia
DOB: December 18, 1980

A first round draft pick and Super Bowl Champion, Benjamin Watson is a true talent and a force in the NFL. Benjamin grew up in Rock Hill, South Carolina where he attended Northwestern High School.  There, Benjamin was a standout athlete, and his talents would afford him a place on the Duke University football team and later with the University of Georgia. In his junior season, he was named the team’s best “All-Around Offensive Player” leading the team in receptions and receiving yards. In the year’s largest game, the SEC Championship, Benjamin hauled in a critical 20-yard reception to help give the Bulldogs their first SEC Championship in almost 20 years, showing why many have deemed him as one of football’s greatest playmakers!

In his senior year, Benjamin was selected as an NCAA preseason All-American and an All-SEC selection. He was also named the Bulldog’s offensive captain for the season and was honored as an All-SEC selection by numerous publications after a stellar season capped off by touchdown receptions in both the SEC Championship game and the Capital One Bowl.

It is no surprise that Benjamin was a first round NFL draft selection. The New England Patriots knew he was a special talent and selected him as the 32nd overall pick.  He has been a powerhouse  in the NFL ever since. Known for his excellent speed and astounding athletic ability, Benjamin is widely recognized for what is considered “the most amazing play of the entire 2005-2006 NFL season” –   a remarkable run to deny a touchdown in a critical playoff game.  After six successful seasons with the Patriots, Benjamin landed with the Cleveland Browns where he continued to be a dominating force, leading the team in receptions, receiving yards and receiving touchdowns. When his contract with the Browns was up in 2013, Benjamin was quickly picked up by the New Orleans Saints and signed a three year deal with them.

Benjamin’s passion for football mirrors his passion for giving back. Year after year, Benjamin continues to support his local community. Understanding just how blessed he is, Benjamin and his wife Kirsten established and operate the charitable foundation, One More. One More is a non-profit organization dedicated to impacting the lives of those in need by providing enrichment opportunities and promoting education through charitable initiatives and partnerships.  Past events include the annual Big BENefit Christmas Toy Giveaway, Chow Down With a Brown and Supper With a Saint Food Giveaway and Football 101.  Other off the field accomplishments for Benjamin this year include being cast in the recent season of The American Bible Challenge and participating in the 14th Annual Super Bowl Gospel Fest where he was a keynote speaker.

When he’s not playing football or giving back to his community, Benjamin enjoys spending time with his wife and four children.  He is a very hands-on father and the ultimate family man.  He also enjoys the broadcast side of the industry and throughout the 2013 Season, was a Weekly Analyst on “Around the League” on NFL Network. He often lends his expertise to other  TV and Radio Programs to analyze and predict games on major national television and radio shows.  His knowledge and passion shine through in interviews, so it comes as no surprise that he is a media favorite. Benjamin’s looks, talents, and skills on and off the field, coupled with his down to earth- and generous personality, have paved the path to a very bright future post-NFL.
